Customized Exams for Contact Lens Wearers

An eye exam for contact lenses will differ from a typical eye exam. We’ll measure your eyes’ topography, your prescription, and discuss other considerations like dry eyes. A contact lens exam allows us to determine the best lens option for you.

The Right Fit for Your Eyes

As part of your contact lens exam and fitting, we’ll determine which type of contact lens is right for you. We offer a variety of specialty contact lenses to suit even hard to fit eyes, making sure every lens we fit is comfortable while providing clear vision. Some of the types of specialty contacts we carry include:

  • Toric Lenses
  • Multifocal Lenses
  • Aspheric Lenses
  • Scleral Lenses
  • Hybrid Contact Lenses
  • Color Contact Lenses

Contact lenses have come a long way and there are now a variety of options for patients with astigmatism. Some options we carry include toric lenses, hybrid lenses, and scleral lenses. They are all designed to stay in place on irregularly shaped corneas, allowing those with astigmatism to see clearly and comfortably.

Orthokeratology, or Ortho-K, are specialty contacts that are used to control your prescription by correcting the shape of the cornea while you sleep. These contacts are worn overnight and gradually resolve refractive errors, allowing you to go without glasses or contacts during the day. They are used as a method of myopia control. Our practice specializes in Ortho-K and it’s a service we’re proud to offer our patients.

Keratoconus is a progressive disease affecting the cornea that results in poor vision that cannot be corrected properly with glasses. Moderate to severe keratoconus is best corrected with rigid gas permeable contact lenses or scleral contact lenses, which provide a smooth tear layer in front of the cornea. This forms a “liquid lens” and corrects the irregular corneal shape caused by keratoconus, making clear vision possible.
