Myopia Management for Children at Stone Ridge Eye Care

Book Your Appointment

Why are Myopia Cases Rising?

If your child is staying indoors more often, or doing up-close activities like reading or using digital devices, they may be at a higher risk of developing childhood myopia.

Myopia progressively gets worse as your child grows older. As it develops, it can affect their ability to perform at school or even play sports. But with the help of our trained team of doctors, we can develop a myopia management plan that suits their needs and keeps them seeing clearly into the future.

If you are looking for specific advice to address your child’s myopia development risk, visit https://www.mykidsvision.org/en-us for a quick 6 question survey.

The Risk of Myopia

Myopia increases the risk of developing a range of eye conditions and diseases, including glaucomacataracts, and macular degeneration. Myopia can also increase the risk of experiencing retinal detachment and permanent vision loss. Mild myopia can increase this risk by 4 to 5 times, while severe myopia increases the risk by 10 times.

In fact, some studies show that more than 50% of retinal detachments (not related to trauma) are connected to myopia.
